Residing in Melbourne, musicians Nick Bond and Carlos Tinsey have come together to create a new project, “Boredslide.” Within this alias, these two are driven by a desire for consistency and inspiration from post-punk, shoegaze, jangle rock, and bedroom pop. Boredslide shows a more somber side in their upcoming release, "(feels like) nothing at all."

JC: What led to the creation of “boredslide?” Did the two of you make any music together prior to this project?
NB: Carlos and I have played music together since we were kids, but never really had a project that was just ours until this. Carlos started dropping into my studio a couple of years ago just to hang out, but we inevitably started making tunes together, and all we would come up with were these short, fast, funny tracks, which gave us the idea to make that the theme of the project.
JC: Do you plan to always keep your songs short and sweet, or do you ever think about expanding into more lengthy releases?
NB: We’re definitely sticking to that formula for 2026. The whole goal for the ‘limited express’ cassette album was to challenge ourselves creatively by putting such an extreme limitation on it, and I think it has worked in a lot of unexpected ways. That approach may change once we’ve finished the year, but I dare say we’ll be taking a decent break after this!
JC: You mentioned that your new release, ‘(feels like) nothing at all,’ is more somber than previous songs that you have released; will this be taking your music in a new direction, or is it a temporary switch?
NB: It’s definitely on the mellow and sentimental side of the tracks we’ve released so far, but there have been some pretty zany (borderline dumb) tracks in there as well, so I hope we’re creating a compelling mix of light and shade.

NB: We almost don’t have the luxury of having a super deliberate ‘vision’ for many of the tracks now that the train is rolling. We basically just have to trust our instincts and our chemistry and hope that something good comes out - if it doesn’t, we just move on and start again.
JC: Did anything differ in the recording process for this new release in comparison to your other music? Did it flow naturally, or were there some barriers to overcome?
NB: This one was fairly cut and dry, boredslide. We had outlet backs against the wall from a time perspective (again), so we sat down and listened to a bunch of songs that we liked, then just started recording stuff and hoping it was good!

JC: What is one song you wish boredslide wrote? NB: Seabird by Alessi Brothers. What a sweet track. JC: What’s next for boredslide?
NB: This track officially marks the halfway point of the ‘limited express’ cassette, so we have 13 more songs to release for the year, then we’re planning on playing a show at the end of the year with a full band to celebrate - wish us luck!
JC: Thank you so much for your time! Hope all is well in the future for you two.
NB: Thanks so much for having us - hope all is well at the mic xx
