Meet Izzy Miz:

Izzy Miz is a Central Jersey–bred creative force who approaches music as both self-discovery and release. A singer, songwriter, and producer unwilling to stay in a single lane, they weave heartfelt storytelling with emotionally charged vocals and self-crafted production. From early beginnings on stage to becoming fully self-sufficient behind the scenes, Izzy’s work reflects a constant evolution, one rooted in curiosity, honesty, and a deep commitment to growth. Their debut EP, False Deities, captures that journey in full color, pairing sharp lyricism with immersive soundscapes.
This month, The MIC Mag is celebrating Izzy Miz as our Musician of the Month!
Genre: Indie Folk/Pop
Fun Facts:Â
I'm a Virgo (Virgo supremacy, duh)
I actually have TERRIBLE stage fright!
I have been singing since I was 3!
What makes Izzy Miz stand out?
"Good question - and a tough one. Something I am continually baffled by is just how many incredible musicians and artists there are out there, and how nearly none of them will ever get the amount of praise and recognition they truly "deserve". I think that's why as an artist you have to be so confident, and really work on affirming yourself and reminding yourself why you create - but that's a whole other question. I think one way I stand out as a musician is my voice - I think it has a pretty unique timbre and tone. I actually have vocal nodules which is not awesome lol, but is probably part of why my voice can be so breathy at times. Another way I stand out is in the same way that every musician does - no one has my unique set of experiences. I am the only Izzy Miz in the world with these exact experiences and this body and this mind, so I have that going for me!"

What is Izzy Miz most known for?
"As of right now, in terms of popularity, I would say I'm "most known" for my song "Drive". I released it in 2018. It was the first song I ever released and I recorded, produced, mixed, and (attempted) to master it in my dorm room my freshman year of college. It blew up on Soundcloud and has over 200,000 streams. But really, what I think and (hope) I'm known for in general is reflecting real human experiences and emotions in my music. Clever lyricism. Sad girl anthems. Haunting harmonies, too - I love those."
What has Izzy Miz been working on?
False Deities
"Izzy Miz packs depth into their debut 4-track EP. Featuring their hit single “RUN, MY LOVE," False Deities includes three additional tracks that take an intimate delve into the protagonist's internal world. Deeply personal, yet highly relatable, Izzy Miz explores the humbling human search for purpose, meaning, and divinity. Touching on hedonism, addiction, and escapism, False Deities is a witty, poignant, at times humorous - and at times heart-wrenching - exploration of losing yourself to find yourself.
Equal parts sweet and savory, Izzy Miz’s signature ethereal yet resonant croon will envelop you in warmth. And just like honey, False Deities will stick with you."

"Once I release my music into the universe, I try to accept that the universe will send it where it needs to go. Creating and releasing my music to the world in and of itself has to be the definition of success for me, or else I go crazy. I would make music even if no one else listened - at the end of the day, I make music and write songs because they are inside of me yelling to be let out. They help me process the world around me . . . writing and performing have a deep impact on me. And if it impacts other people, too, that's amazing - but that's not what defines its value." - Izzy Miz

Do you have any advice for other aspiring independent musicians?:
"'Focus on the process, not the outcome. Never tie your worth to other people's response to the art you create. And know that you are worthy whether or not you are actively creating."
