Meet The Weekend Lesbians—a joyful, chaotic indie concoction born from a mix of seasoned scene veterans and fresh faces. Formed with pure intention and playful spirit, this Northern New Jersey outfit taught themselves their instruments just for the project, blending airy lightness with an unapologetically aggressive femininity. Their sets are a spirited mix of original sounds and offbeat covers guaranteed to charm everyone—even your dog.

This Pride Month, The MIC Mag is celebrating The Weekend Lesbians as our Musicians of the Month!

What makes The Weekend Lesbians stand out?

"We learned our instruments specifically for this band and have emerged together from novices into more fully-fledged musicians. Our bond projects a close-knit energy and excitement for our project and has helped us connect to a large audience as well as write and cover many different genres stemming from our unique influences."

"To be a musician is to listen, appreciate, and steal. Take parts of everything you like for yourself and become an amalgamation of your inspirations. Keep learning. Keep improving. And tap into the deep pool of references you keep close to create something truly magical to share with others." - The Weekend Lesbians

Do you have any advice for other aspiring independent musicians?:

"Create freely! Freedom of expression is so important, especially now. Be loud! Be angry! Be joyous! Especially joyous. Believe in the music you write and the rest will follow ✨"
