The MIC Mag's September 2026 Issue!
Dive into The MIC Mag's Monthly Issue, where you can see who we've featured and what we've had on repeat all month long!
Belle Shea:

Belle Shea writes the kind of songs that feel like they were born somewhere between a diary entry and a road trip playlist. Raised in South Florida and now calling Brooklyn home, she channels that geographic contrast into her sound—alt-rock built on candid, deeply personal songwriting, warmed by melodies and guitar work that carry a distinct sun-bleached edge. This year marks a major milestone with her forthcoming album In Living Memory, kicked off by lead single "Choke," which has already earned attention from Pitchfork, Luna Collective, and SiriusXM's Tom Petty Radio. This Month, The MIC Mag celebrated Belle Shea as our Musician of the Month! Read more about Belle here.
Lucy Kaplansky

Lucy Kaplansky got her start singing in Chicago folk clubs as a teenager, then followed a New York Times article to Greenwich Village, where she became part of a scene that included Suzanne Vega, Steve Forbert, and The Roches — most often pairing her voice with Shawn Colvin's. Just as stardom seemed inevitable, Kaplansky walked away to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology, working as a therapist for years before music pulled her back for good. Read all about Lucy and her journey here!
sugarwife "Getting Closer"

From “I hate music” to a six-piece band, sugarwife's story begins with a breakup, burnout, and The Beths.
This month, we sat down with the band to take a deeper dive into their latest release “Getting Closer.”

Justin Messina "Life's Work"

From writing his first songs on the playground to finally putting his own music out into the world, Justin Messina has been a storyteller for as long as he can remember. He picked up guitar at ten just so he could put music to the lyrics he was already writing, and over the years, his storytelling has taken him into music, filmmaking, marketing, and more. Now, Messina is stepping into a new chapter with his debut single, “Life’s Work,” a song about love and becoming a better version of yourself. We sat down with Justin Messina to discuss his musical journey and the story behind his latest single. Read the interview with Justin here!
The Living Dogs

North Jersey-based hippie punk trio The Living Dogs: Tommy Hyde, Kaelan Delaney, and Connor Larkin, removed all songs from their previous lineup from their Spotify, replacing them with a live album, marking the band's new beginning. Get ready to rock, wag, and roll to their catchy tunes.

The Lack of Context," we ran a pre-release campaign promoting him as an artist and pitching his story to outlets to solidify his message ahead of the drop. Post-release, we kept the momentum going, landing him interviews, local newspaper press, playlists, podcasts, social features, and more!
