Meet Allie Sandt:
Allie Sandt has already lived one music career—as frontwoman of indie band Seeing Double, whose single "Leah" racked up millions of streams—and she's now building a second one entirely on her own terms. The New Jersey-based artist blends folk, rock, and jazz into a sound critics have called complex and entrancing, drawing comparisons to Sheryl Crow and Steely Dan. That range comes through on her debut album, In Pursuit of a Good Time, and it's been sharpened further by months on the road, including a recent three-month acoustic tour that pushed her songwriting and stagecraft in new directions. Her single "The Right Time" has since caught fire online, marking her out as one of indie's most promising rising voices, and this November she'll bring her powerful vocals and disarming humor to the stage as support for Liana Flores.

In Pursuit of a Good Time
"In Pursuit of a Good Time is my debut album and a true labor of love, crafted over the course of the past few years. The record was inspired by my four years living in upstate New York while attending college, with many of the songs reflecting the people I met, the places I explored, and the experiences that shaped me during that time. I knew these songs belonged together because they summarize my last few years navigating the uncertainty of post-graduation, a band breakup, and the process of finding my footing as an artist. More than anything, IPOAGT represents the moment I started to find my voice as both a songwriter and producer, building on the foundation of earlier singles like "The Right Time" and "Jack's Song." I loved how collaborative making this album was-- I worked with so many different musicians, and it was very fitting that my debut album was filled with a lot of experimentation on the recording side. We tracked the songs in various basements, bedrooms, and a handful of studios. Overall, it was a very DIY process, and I feel like I got to solidify my musical relationships with some of my closest collaborators on this project!"

Do you have any advice for other aspiring independent musicians?:
My advice for aspiring independent musicians would be to learn as much as you can about every avenue that comes with pursuing this career! I have learned how to be a recording engineer, producer, photographer, graphic designer, video editor, content creator, booking agent, tour manager ... and the list goes on and on. Being able to speak the language (even just a little bit) of these different jobs allows you to take control of your own artistic vision and communicate with professionals when you choose to outsource. I learned most of these things from the musicians and indie artists around me. Taking careful note of what you see other artists doing online is a great way to start making your own plan of action.
