Meet Leadpetal: The MIC Mag's October 2026 Musician of the Month!
Meet Leadpetal:

Leadpetal is a band that doesn't ask for your attention; it takes it. Blending the grit of grunge, the spirit of punk and riot grrrl, and the weight of alternative metal, they've built a sound that's messy, loud, riff-heavy, and unapologetically alive. Forged in DIY venues, clubs, and dive bars, the band released their debut album Glass Teeth in 2025, a record that channels their love of grunge, punk, metal, and good old rock 'n' roll. Onstage, they're everything you'd hope for: loud, fast, and distorted, with a live show made for a crowd that has no interest in standing still.
This month, The MIC Mag is celebrating Leadpetal as our Musicians of the Month!
Genre: Alt Rock (punk, grunge, metal, rock)

Fun Facts:
"All of us pretty much learned our instruments for the band, not having experience with them before!! This band is for not giving up <3"
What makes Leadpetal stand out?
"We stand out for combining elements of genres that have not been done before, creating a sound of our own in our music. We are also an all-femme band which is unique especially in rock music!"
What is Leadpetal most known for?
"We are known for people having a lot of fun and building community at our shows. Musically, we're known for being loud and having in-your-face riffs. We hope to be known for making a positive impact on music and the world and inspiring people to chase their dreams."
What has Leadpeetal been working on?
"Home"
"This is a single "Home" from Leadpetal's upcoming second album! The song combines haunting vocal melodies with driving guitar riffs and breakdowns, combining elements of grunge and metal. The song can be interpreted in many ways, but the overall theme is that if people hurt you or take advantage of you, no one can take away the fact that you're still here and you matter - you are your own home."

“Being a musician is not an easy job but it is the most rewarding because you get to create something in the world that started as an emotion or idea. It's a magical process and being in a band is even more special because you get to work with your friends.” - Leadpetal

Do you have any advice for other aspiring independent musicians?:
For people aspiring to pursue music, 1000% do it!!! Life is too short not to try to see what you're capable of - we all started our instruments for this band, basically, if you take small steps towards your goals every day, you'll reach them.
