Meet Quedronol: The MIC Mag's July 2026 Musician of the Month!

Meet Quendronol:

Quedronol

Quedronol makes music that feels like memory itself — hazy, warm, and shot through with longing. Splitting his roots between San Francisco and his current home base of New York City, the solo artist has spent the years since 2020 building a genre-blurring world where folk, electronica, noise rock, indie pop, and shoegaze bleed into one another, all in service of songs that dig into love and nostalgia with real emotional weight. His catalog traces a geography of memory as much as a sonic evolution: 2022's Espíritu channeled the ambient sprawl of California's Central Valley, while 2023's Fioritura looked toward his grandparents' Massachusetts hometown and helped define the "folktronica" underground in the process. By 2025's Together, something had shifted; the record stood out as unexpectedly hopeful against the more brooding textures of his earlier work. That evolution continues with this June's Together (Anniversary Edition), five additional tracks born out of and alongside the original album, several of which took shape on stage during Quedronol's very first live shows in early 2026.

This month, The MIC Mag is celebrating Quedronol as our Musician of the Month!

Genre: Indietronica/folk/pop

Fun Facts:

"I started writing songs before I knew how to read a language, and I learned how to read from the backs of CDs in my family car."

What makes Quendronol stand out?

"I have a unique approach to writing and producing that involves inspiration from both pop and experimental music, and I try to apply that approach to every aspect of my songs: structures, progressions, lyrics, concerts, album rollouts, and visuals."

What is Alexa Quendronol most known for?

"I hope to be known for creating a unique sound and innovating on the many saturated genres of today's music landscape. I want to make things that have a functional element, whether it be emotional catharsis, a real-world impact, or something else."

What has Quendronol been working on?

Together (Anniversary Edition)

"This deluxe is a way for me to clean out the vault and complete the world of my album Together, which I started working on at a crazy important moment in my life in early 2024, and released in May 2025. Together is my high school self's attempt at making an epic, encompassing a lifetime of making music by placing it in the context of the place I have spent my entire life, San Francisco. The final product pulls from pop, folk, twee, shoegaze, trap, rnb, and anything else I found myself capable of making at that time in my life. Putting that body of work next to new songs in the form of Together (Anniversary Edition) emphasized for me how Together encompasses more than just the past; it's something I will carry its sounds and ideas with me for the rest of my life."

I’ve been intrigued, probably my entire life, with looking at the fault lines of these fake binaries, like electronic music versus acoustic, and challenging that. If I play a live show, it always has a bit of that tension. That’s why I don’t do too many live shows. I like them feeling quite risky. Awkwardness is a real core ingredient. We’re constantly living between these positions of real, unreal, slick, DIY. I’m not that interested in music that doesn’t have that tension, or in a culture that doesn’t have it.” - A.G. Cook

Do you have any advice for other aspiring independent musicians?:

I'm still definitely one myself, so this is hard, but here are things I try to follow in my own music:

  • Try something new at every opportunity, and don't let yourself make the same thing twice

  • Make as many friends and reach out to as many collaborators as possible. You can learn more from other artists' approach to their work than you can from anything else

  • If you feel like you are making something special, treat it as such and let yourself be confident in it

  • Experimentation is as important as finishing something; allow yourself time to do things that you don't know for sure will turn out well or see the light of day
