The MIC Mag's July 2025 Issue!

Dive into The MIC Mag's Monthly Issue, where you can see who we've featured and what we've had on repeat all month long!

The Spins:

the spins

Meet The Spins, a genre-blurring indie rock band from the Appalachian corners of New Jersey, known for their emotionally charged songwriting, infectious hooks, and electric live shows. Since forming in 2016, they’ve carved out a sound that draws from pop punk, emo, indie, and classic rock without ever settling into just one lane. After years of building their name in basements and small clubs, The Spins are gearing up for a bigger stage, still driven by the same passion that started it all.

This July Month, The MIC Mag celebrated The Spins as our Musicians of the Month!

Frankie Muriel "THOSE WERE THE NIGHTS"

those were the nights - frankie muriel

Frankie Muriel got his start in St. Louis with Broken Toyz, then came major-label deals, MTV airplay, and Billboard-charting success with KINGOFTHEHILL. With shifts in genres, Frankie reinvented himself repeatedly, shaping his music into what it is today. Currently, Frankie fronts Dr. Zhivegas, a high-energy disco-rock band.

The MIC Mag sat down with Frankie this month to talk about his latest release, "THOSE WERE THE NIGHTS."

Vaarin Heading Home

vaarin - heading home

Norwegian singer-songwriter Vaarin was destined for creativity from the moment she was born. Her mother, a visual artist, and her father, an "old rock star," led her down the path from strumming guitars to composing her first melody on her Rhodes piano.

This month, we sat down with Vaarin to hear more about her new album, Heading Home.

Angie Colman How Do I Make My Life Slow Down?

how do i make my life slow down - angie colman

"This release has taken an interesting path. It was originally meant to be a six-track EP, but eventually became the first chapter of a ten-track full-length album. These six songs of How Do I Make My Life Slow Down? Part 1 were all written together, and they centre around the idea of growth, getting older, changing relationships, and changing yourself. Each song in Part 1 is kind of a lightbulb moment for me in realising what kind of person I am." - Angie Colman

Richard Berger "Work It Out"

work it out - richard berger

Richard Berger’s latest release, "Work It Out," gets groovy with synth, electro, rock, and R&B styles reminiscent of the '70s and '80s, and brings you back to the days of teenage crushes and all the nerves that came with them!

Squares "Atmosphere"

squares "atmosphere"

"'Atmosphere' is so properly named, in that the composition, lyrics, and its sonic textures are meant to be completely uplifting. Although a story of love, it also touches on the difficulty of maintaining love, passion, and common ground in a relationship."

- Chris Barrett
