"SAVE A HORSE, BREAK A HEART": Tiger La Flor Delivers a Playful New Pop-Country Hit

Tiger La Flor, a Japanese-Korean-American indie pop powerhouse, seamlessly merges grunge-inspired grit with infectious pop melodies. Born Tigerlily and raised in the Pacific Northwest, she first made waves fronting an award-winning all-girl grunge band before launching a solo career that has captured millions of streams and a devoted online following. Her genre-defying sound has earned accolades from outlets like Spin, Ones to Watch, and Glasse Factory, while viral hits like "shut up and kiss me!,""super8," "rope bunny," and "living in the 90s" have solidified her status as a rising star. With her debut EP see me in hell, Tiger La Flor continues to rewrite the rules, championing AAPI representation and redefining what it means to be an indie pop artist.

In the words of Tiger La Flor, "There’s always that moment post-breakup when you snap out of being heartbroken and transition to being a heartbreaker. I’d just finished recording this super emotional breakup record and frankly, I was bored of being heartbroken. I was talking about it with one of the songwriters and she was like ‘what if we called it save a horse, break a heart.’ I was like ‘there’s no way that’s not a song yet’ but we looked it up and it wasn’t, so of course we had to write it!"

LONG STORY SHORT: Tiger La Flor’s latest single, "SAVE A HORSE, BREAK A HEART," is a refreshing twist on pop-country, showcasing her signature blend of sharp, witty lyricism and lush production. With clear vocals reminiscent of Kacey Musgraves, she delivers a playful yet commanding performance that flips the traditional country narrative. The track leans more into pop with its polished sound and irresistible hooks, while the lyrics—like “I’m in the mood to make a cowboy cry”—keep things fun and lighthearted without relying on overdone twang. Centering a bold, badass woman as the star of the story, lines like “I think I drank the good girl out of my blood” and the cheeky chorus make this song both empowering and irresistibly catchy.
