Dive into The MIC Mag's Monthly Issue, where you can see who we've featured and what we've had on repeat all month long!
Allie Sandt:

Allie Sandt has already lived one music career—as frontwoman of indie band Seeing Double, whose single "Leah" racked up millions of streams—and she's now building a second one entirely on her own terms. The New Jersey-based artist blends folk, rock, and jazz into a sound critics have called complex and entrancing, drawing comparisons to Sheryl Crow and Steely Dan. Her single "The Right Time" has since caught fire online, marking her out as one of indie's most promising rising voices, and this November she'll bring her powerful vocals and disarming humor to the stage as support for Liana Flores. This Month, The MIC Mag celebrated Allie Sandt as our Musician of the Month! Read more about Allie here.

Hilary Cousins "The Well"

“The power of this song is that, while I think it's about experiences and memories specific to me, it completely transcends those particulars and guides listeners into their own reflections and feelings. The imagery and language of the lyrics are open-ended and evocative, not confined to a specific narrative. Honestly, I'm not sure how this composition came to be, but I'm very proud and grateful that it did.” - Hilary Cousins

Other Fun Things The MIC Mag + MG Did In August:

Amanda is the force behind Gummi Bear DIY, a promoter identity she built after years of booking DIY shows since 2019. What started as smaller gigs and the mini-fest Femme Fatale grew into Boonton Warped, a full two-day weekender featuring dozens of bands and vendors, all built around community, collaboration, and giving artists of every size a shot. We asked her about how Boonton Warped came together and what she looks for in the artists she books.

Phil Robinson and Brian Erickson didn't set out to build a music exchange; it grew organically from years of booking shows, swapping gigs, and showing up for other artists in New York and Asbury Park. Now, as co-founders of the NY/AP Music Exchange, they're bridging two vibrant music scenes, one collaborative show at a time. We sat down with them to talk roots, community, and what it really takes to get booked.
