What Makes maddie rien stand out?
"Each song I write stems from my own personal experiences as a young adolescent. The greatest feeling is knowing that a complete stranger can be listening to my song halfway across the world and will message me that this song brought back a certain memory for them or they really relate to what I was going through.
I also hold a really close connection with my fans since I livestream almost every night through Tiktok. I think it’s really important to know your audience, and hearing how much my music has helped them makes me feel so grateful to have this opportunity to pursue this as a career."
What do you hope maddie rien will be known for?
"I hope to be known for my lyricism. Whenever I listen to music, the first thing that piques my interest are the lyrics and meaning behind the song."
What has maddie rien been working on?
New track, "Red Balloon"
""Red Balloon" is a song I wrote based on a dream I had. I expanded it into a story about the narrator witnessing someone they care for relentlessly chase a "Red Balloon" (which symbolizes any toxic thing/person that's masked as something innocent) just for them to get hurt in the end. The masked innocence flows into the music production with a fun 80s synth-pop sound. I wanted the song to feel light-hearted until you dive deep into the meaning behind the lyrics.
New Single, "Should I Be Sad?"
I also have a new single coming out on October 13th. "Should I Be Sad?" is a playful, sarcastic, unrequited love anthem about dealing with your old crush finding someone else. However, the perspective isn’t from a place of being heartbroken, it’s more of having an attitude of “good riddance!”
Words from maddie rien?
"Music has always been an escape from reality for me, a way to articulate emotions that I otherwise wouldn’t be able to figure out. Now hearing that people feel the same way when they listen to my songs, it’s the biggest compliment I could ever receive. That’s why I not only love music, but why I love being a musician."
Do you have any advice for other aspiring independent musicians?:
"Stay consistent and work like this is your obsession. If this is something you’re truly passionate about, people will hear that in your music!" -maddie rien
