In the words of Jake Anthony Salazar of RODERIK, "'All or Nothing' started as a song about a real haunting I experienced growing up, something that physically followed me and stuck with me for years. But as I kept writing, it began to take on a broader meaning. The lyrics became a way to process any kind of toxic relationship that’s hard to let go of, whether it’s with a partner, a family member, a friend, or something more supernatural. It’s about being stuck in that cycle, knowing it’s hurting you, but feeling like you can’t escape it. “All or Nothing” pays homage to some of our earlier work that never got the attention we hoped it would, while still staying true to who RODERIK has become over the past year. It’s a blend of where we started and where we’ve grown, and that balance makes it really special to us."
LONG STORY SHORT: "All or Nothing" is a blend of rock, metal, and pop that focuses on the pain of being in a toxic relationship where the other party gives you their all or nothing. But you can’t just leave them because as RODERIK sings, “you’re the only thing I’ve ever known, you’re always on my mind” and “I’m fixated, captivated by this grip that you have on me” you’re stuck in this relationship not because of love, but because of this this captivating toxic bond. After listening to "All or Nothing" on repeat, I concluded that it is not a one-sided toxic relationship; both parties are harming one another, but seemingly one more than the other. If you've ever been in a toxic relationship yourself, this is one relatable must-listen track!
