Sarah and Sofia Find The Ache Of Letting Go In “summer’s end”
Sarah and Sofia have been making music together since they were 15. At that time, their childhood friendship turned into playing cover gigs together. Since then, the two have grown into a singer-songwriter duo with folk-inspired pieces. Their music touches on girlhood, growing up, and nostalgia. Sarah is currently studying voice at the University of Maryland, while Sofia Studies Jazz, piano, and the music industry at the University of Miami. No matter where school takes them, they find their way back together through music and their new single “summer’s end,” which is a single off of their EP, “Ghost,” coming out October 25th.

In the words of Sarah + Sofia: “There’s a particular kind of ache that comes with watching the seasons change before you’re ready, and ‘summer’s end’ was born because of that feeling. The heart of the song is the gutting question: “Am I naive for believing you believed in me?” It’s about letting go of someone you thought you knew, and the quiet grief of leaving them in the past. The bridge reads, “Nobody’s hurt me quite like you, but nobody loves me the way that you do.” That’s the tension the whole song is built upon. Love and pain being tangled up together. If you’ve ever loved someone that wanted you smaller, this one’s for you.”
LONG STORY SHORT: There’s something about the end of summer that makes everything feel emotional. Maybe it's the weather changing, maybe it's the feeling of summer slipping away, or maybe it's just an excuse to overthink a relationship of the past. For Sarah and Sofia, this sums up “summer’s end.”
